Touchable Earth is the first app where kids teach kids about the world. Taught entirely by school age children in short videos, Touchable Earth promotes tolerance for gender, culture, and identity.
I founded it in 2012 with my web developer cousin Tom Clarkson.
I was at a conference once where people on stage were discussing literacy programs on tablets in developing countries. Someone asked “The western world achieved 99% literacy with a pencil in paper, so how is this better?”.
With Touchable Earth I wanted to do something that hadn’t existed before, and could only exist with digital media. With the assistance of Dr. Ed Gragert and iEARN.org the project took off and is now available online on the link below.
