Barbados

I was unlucky with Barbados as I was there Easter Monday and a lot of places were closed. Luckily a dive shop was open, Barbados Blue, and Icould get in the water.

It was really shallow beginner stuff but tame turtles.

Luckily my flight was cancelled and I got to have the next morning at the museums which I highly recommend.

Only let down was transportation – they really need uber. Taxis with no meter are usually bad news.

Madagascar

Amazing what you can see in few days on this island. It takes around 4 hours to get to the parks outside the capital city.

The country has an interesting history as a base for pirates, a French possession courted by England, and post independence as a communist state. The capital city is in very poor shape and is one of the most dangerous places I’ve been (and got slashed up in a botched robbery to prove it).

That said I had an excellent driver, great local friends, and would like to sample the underwater nature too at some point.
